Goldstone was invented by accident by monks in the 19th century when one was carrying a container of copper shavings and tripped, spilling them into a vat of molten tinted glass!   Everyone was so upset until the next morning when the glass had completely hardened they discovered how beautiful this "stone" would be!   Nice mistake wouldn't you say??
